el no farmacológico To demostrate whether there is an association between the d egree of healthknowledge and adherence to treatment in patients of the""Ad ultprogram with chronic noncommunicable diseases"" with a diagnosis of art eri-al hypertension and diabetes mellitus. MATERIAL AND METHODS: cross-sectional observational analytical study, where 326patients with a diagnosis of arterial hypertension and/or diabetes mellitus were taken. Questionnaires were applied to measure the level of health literacy and adherence treatment. The results were statistically compared with the Chi-square Test, to assess the association between the degree of health literacy and adherence to treatment in patients with arterial hypertension and diabetes mellitus. RESULTS:The sample was represented by 59.8% by the female sex and 4 0.2% by the male sex. The mínimum age was 21 years and the maximum age was 98 years, with a mean age and standard deviation of 67.8 ± 11.58 years of age. 69.3% have sufficient health knowledge. 25.2% of patients are adherents to treatment (pharmacological and non-pharmacological), while 74.8% do not have good adherence to treatment. 43.9% of patients have good adherence to pharmacological treatment, which is associated with age (Sig.=0.011) and socioeconomic level (Sig.=0.025). 49.7% had good adherence to non-pharmacological treatment and no association was found with any sociodemographic characteristic. Association between health literacy and treatment adherence demonstrated (Sig.=0.011). CONCLUSIONS: There is a significant relationship between the level of health literacy and adherence to treatment |
