periodo julio 2019- febrero 2020 y junio 2021- enero 2022.
To determine the relation between Diabetes Mellitus 2 and the type of onychomycosis in patients with onychomycosis who attend the dermatology outpatient clinic at the Hospital de Especialidades Básicas La Noria during the period july 2019- february 2020 and june 2021- january 2022. Material and methods: An observational, analytical and prospective cross sectional study was carried out. The study population consisted of 97 patients who presented onychomycosis and who met the selection standar treated at the Hospital de Especialidades Básicas la Noria. To determine the association between the variables, the Pearson Chi Square statistical test will be used. Results: It was found that Diabetes Mellitus 2 is not associated with the type of onychomycosis. Of the total number of patients with onychomycosis, 53 (54.6%) presented trichophyton spp as type, 20 (20.6%) cándida and 24 (24.7%) both, respectively. It was observed that the total number of diabetic patients was 39.2%, of which 22.7% had trichophyton spp, 6.2% cándida and 10.3% both, however, of the total number of non-diabetics, it was 60 .8%, 32% had trichophyton spp, 14.4% Candida and 14.4% both. The Chi square statistical test shows us with a value of p= 0.641, which concludes that there are not enough reasons at the 5% level (p>0.05) that allow us to affirm said association. Among the intervening variables, no significance was found related to the type of onychomycosis, being p>0.05. Conclusion: There is no relation between the type of onychomycosis and Diabetes Mellitus 2 in patients with onychomycosis |
