Objective: To determine the effectiveness of an educational intervention to perform quality cardiopulmonary resuscitation by high school students. Materials and methods: A quasi - experimental study was carried out on a sample of 91 students of fifth grade in two high schools in Trujillo - La Libertad, those students who got the selection criteria. IBM SPSS STATISTICS 25 analysis was used for data processing. Results: The knowledge on cardiopulmonary resuscitation in high school students was increased after the educational intervention from 8 points to 12 points (p = 0.000). Before the intervention was evident that no student was able to do quality cardiopulmonary resuscitation, however, after the intervention, 39 students (43%) did so (p <0.000006). Regarding the intervening variables, it was found that neither age (p = 0.494), facilitator performance (p = 0.723), interest in the subject (p = 0.462), sex (p = 0.628), professional vocation to Health sciences (p = 0.278) and the father or mother health professional (p = 0.847), did not influence the performance of quality cardiopulmonary resuscitation (p> 0.05). Conclusion: The proposed educational intervention is effective in performing quality cardiopulmonary resuscitation for high school students. |
