Transfusión de paquete globular asociada a retinopatía del prematuro en neonatos con peso menor de 1500 gramos al nacer. Hospital Belén de Trujillo

Abstract

Determinar si la transfusión de paquete globular está asociada a retinopatía del prematuro en neonatos con peso menor de 1500 gr. al nacer. MATERIAL Y MÉTODO: Se llevó a cabo un estudio de tipo analítico, observacional, retrospectivo, de casos y controles en el Hospital Belén de Trujillo durante el año.20112015. La población de estudio estuvo constituida por 264 neonatos prematuros con peso menor de 1500 gr. al nacer; distribuidos en 2 grupos: 82 con retinopatía y 164 sin retinopatía. RESULTADOS: La edad gestacional y el peso al nacer fueron significativamente menores en el grupo con retinopatía respecto al grupo sin retinopatía. La frecuencia de transfusión de paquete globular en prematuros con peso menor de 1500 gr y retinopatía fue 87%. La frecuencia de transfusión de paquete globular en prematuros con peso menor de 1500 gr sin retinopatía fue 32%. La transfusión de paquete globular es factor de riesgo para retinopatía en prematuros con peso menor de 1500 gr con un odds ratio de 13.5 el cual fue significativo (p <0.01). CONCLUSIONES: La transfusión de paquete globular está asociada a retinopatía del prematuro en neonatos con peso menor de 1500 gr. al nacer en el Hospital Belén de Trujillo.

To determine whether red cell transfusion is associated with retinopathy of prematurity in infants weighing less than 1500 grams. at birth. MATERIAL AND METHODS: A study of analytical, observational, retrospective, casecontrol in the Bethlehem Hospital of Trujillo during año.2011-2015 type was carried out. The study population consisted of 264 preterm infants weighing less than 1500 grams. at birth; divided into 2 groups: 82 patients with retinopathy and 164 without retinopathy. RESULTS: Gestational age and birth weight were significantly lower in the group with retinopathy compared to the group without retinopathy. The frequency of red cell transfusion in preterm infants weighing less than 1500 g and retinopathy was 87 %. The frequency of red cell transfusion in preterm infants weighing less than 1500 grams without retinopathy was 32 %. Red cell transfusion is a risk factor for retinopathy in premature infants weighing less than 1500 g with an odds ratio of 13.5 which was significant (p <0.01). CONCLUSIONS: Red cell transfusion is associated with retinopathy of prematurity in infants weighing less than 1500 grams. birth in Belen Trujillo Hospital.
