masculino (aOR=2.98 IC95%: 1.31 - 6.79, p= 0.009), condición laboral (Odds Ratio
servicios de apoyo en línea Health personnel played an important role during the COVID-19 pandemic, as they have the responsibility to provide care to infected patients, this exposes them to the risks involved in contagion making them a vulnerable population with respect to mental health problems such as anxiety due to constant worry. Objective: To determine the association between frontline work and anxiety in health personnel in Trujillo during 2021. Methods: The study was an analytical and retrospective cross sectional design based on 299 health personnel from Trujillo. Simple random sampling was used, based on a questionnaire with ad hoc questions for sociodemographic variables and the DASS-21 for anxiety. Both descriptive statistics and inferential statistics (chi square tests) were presented. Bivariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were performed to identify the variables that had a significant association with the dependent variable. Results: A prevalence of 87% of anxiety in health personnel was evidenced, the bivariate regression analysis showed an association between anxiety and sex (adjusted Odds Ratio (aOR)=2.98 IC95%: 1.31 - 6.79, p= 0.009), work status (aOR=0.40 IC95%: 0.18 - 0.90 p= 0.027), profession (aOR=3.20 IC95%: 1.25 - 8.16 p= 0. 015) and health personnel living with children, (aOR=0.40 CI95%: 0.20 - 0.82 p= 0.012) multivariate regression analysis showed significant association between anxiety and frontline work (aOR=15.74 CI95%: 5.41-45.71 p<0.001) adjusted for sex, work status, profession and living with children. Conclusions: Working on the front line of care for people with COVID-19 is associated with anxiety symptoms. It is recommended to include assessment and promotion of coping and resilience strategies, special attention to frontline health care staff, provision of adequate protective supplies, and organization of online support services |
